Victor Valdes played his final match as a player of Barcelona on March 26 of 2014 and he went on to join Manchester United, it’s with the training facilities of the Premier League club that Valdes is able to recover and get back to full fitness.
His time with Manchester United was cut short after the Spanish midfielder allegedly got into an issue with Louis van Gaal as he did not want to perform in a reserve match and his contract was eventually terminated.
Victor Valdes is now performing with the Premier League outfit Middlesbrough and he is actually a regular starter and he has been recently praised by the head coach Aitor Karanka who said that the Spanish shot-stopper is steadily performing better and the 43 year old tactican also revealed details concerning his relationship and situation with Victor Valdes as the manager said:
My relationship with Victor began when he was injured for the first time.His knee was operated on and I sent him a message, just like I did with Roberto Soldado. I saw myself in their situation, and I know that messages of this type help, so I dared to send it. And his response was positive. I’m happy to have him because the team needed leaders like him,”
“In a changing room you need that type of character. He has had to learn that we are not Barcelona, that Sergio Busquets is not there, that dead-ball situations are different, but he is improving a lot and he did very well against Arsenal.” Karanka said.
