Former Barcelona and Manchester United shot stopper Victor Valdes has retired from professional football, according to reports.
The 35-year old exited Middlesbrough following their relegation from the Premier League last term. While there were reported interests from Las Palmas, Deportivo La Coruna and even Real Betis, the ex-Spain international opted to turn them all down.
El MundoDeportivo reported that the player was tired of trying so he hung his boots. ESPN claimed to have reached out to the player’s agent Gines Carvajal who refused to deny or confirm the report.
Valdes was in the news recently for launching an international production company Crazy4fun TV. The company has bases in Barcelona, London and Aby Dhabi. Rumours have it that it would be his retirement plan as he desires to end his goal manning career.

The Deportivo report adds that Valdes would present a TV show that features former players like himself. He played 28 games last season for Boro but could not save them from sinking to the Championship.
He played over 500 games at the Nou Camp for Barcelona where he won 21 titles including three Champions League title and six La Liga titles. He exited Barca in 2014 for Manchester United. He failed to impress at Old Trafford so he went on loan to Standard Liege. He returned to England to help Boro but failed.
International, Valdes is successful with Spain though passively as Iker Casillas was first choice. David De Gea also took over quickly so Valdes never quite got there.
