Valdes came through the youth academy at Barcelona and has played for the club for many years now. However, he is thought to be interested in the possibility of a new challenge. As a result, several Premier league clubs are reportedly keeping tabs on his situation. Valdes has also been linked with a reunion with the former Barcelona manager Guardiola, who recently took over the German club Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, his decision to leave the club has been supported by the manager Tito Vilanova. Vilanova has said that Valdes is free to work with any club he prefers and he will not stay in the way of the 30-year-old.

“I have spoken to him and I would like everyone to respect his decision. Everyone is free to work where they want to and we have to respect that and help him for the time he is with us. He should have a good exit from the club after all that he has given us. I understand that it may not be the best moment for some people, but it gives the club time to look for a replacement. I have no doubt about his (Valdes’) professional attitude,” said Vilanova.
