Sporting Lisbon is interested in signing Victor Valdes

It’s pretty clear that Victor Valdes does not have a future with Manchester United as the Spanish goal-keeper has had problems with Louis van Gaal after the player reportedly refused to play in a reserve match and this has led to Valdes being completely dropped from Manchester United matches and Valdes is now performing for the Belgium side Standard Liège as he signed a 6 month loan deal which extends until the end of the season.

Even when the loan deal with Standard Liège finalizes, Valdes will have to find another club to join if he wants to continue performing and Manchester United is not a viable nor likely option but Valdes has attracted the attention of Sporting Lisbon as they are believed to be interested in signing the veteran shot-stopper.

Victor Valdes has a contract with Manchester United which expires in the summer but they have the option of extending it further, however, this isn’t a realistic thing that is expected to occur. If Sporting Lisbon is indeed interested in signing Valdes, the Portuguese club has a chance to do this in a few months’ time but they might face competition from the Premier League side Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola will be joining Manchester City at the end of the current season and it’s rumored that the Spanish manager wants to reunite with Victor Valdes and he will attempt to lure him to the Etihad Stadium. If Sporting Lisbon and Pep Guardiola are indeed interested in securing the services of Valdes then there will be a battle between both of them as they will attempt to sign Valdes during the upcoming summer transfer window.

It doesn’t really matter so much for Valdes as to what club he joins, either Manchester City or Sporting Lisbon. As long as he joins any club and has a realistic chance of becoming a regular starter it will be a huge boost for Victor Valdes as he can spark his career back to life after having sustained a disastrous campaign with Manchester United.
