Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola could make another goal keeper as his first choice since dropping Joe Hart from the position he has held for years – for club and country.

Joe Hart is the longest serving player in Etihad, having spent close to ten years. The report says that the player has accepted that the Spanish coach doesn’t value him as much. Everton has made a lot of changes this summer, and could be willing to make Hart their number one. There are a number of Premier League clubs that have been alerted to the situation. However, Hart is one of the highest paid goalkeepers in world football with his £135,000 weekly wage.
Hart still has three years to spend at the club based on his current deal. Reports say the club’s management is willing to allow Hart stay on but Guardiola has other plans. The Spaniard could bring in his preferred No 1 before the transfer window closes. Guardiola is known to prefer the keeper at his former club Marc-Andre ter Stegen as his replacement – currently playing at the Olympics for Germany (and worth a look if you ever bet on Olympic games). It would be difficult to get the player but options exist in Claudio Bravo,33, his teammate.
Sporting Lisbon’s Rui Patricio has been linked to the club, and he was impressive for Portugal at the Euro 2016.
Willy Caballero was in goal when City played Sunderland, and the Argentine is set to continue when City hosts Steaula Bucharest in Romania in the first leg of the Champions League play-off. Guardiola likes keepers that have good distribution skills with the feet, like former Barcelona goal keeper Victor Valdes, and Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich. Guardiola admitted that Hart was not happy about being dropped, and the relationship between both are said to be strained.
